About BR&G

Hey everyone, my name is Captain Steve C. Boykin, III and thanks for taking the time to visit my web site.  I am a native, born and raised in eastern North Carolina.  My love and respect for the outdoors was a gift passed down to me by my father and both grandfathers.  All of them were active hunters and fishermen.  I am telling you this because it means that I have been hunting and fishing in this area for a very long time and have over 20 years of experience when it comes to eastern and coastal Carolina.

I guide primarily because I enjoy taking folks hunting and fishing.  I get a kick out of helping people have a good time. There is nothing more memorable for me that watching someone catch their first drum (aka redfish) in shallow water.

Every one expects a little something different out of a guided trip, and I work hard to make it everything that you would expect, which is why I ask so many darn questions when people book a trip.  Though we work hard to make every trip fruitful, there are times when the fish and birds just don’t cooperate. Currently I am running inshore fly and light tackle fishing trips in two areas.  FromHarkers Island / Beaufort all the way to Swansboro, and the western Pamlico Sound area around Swan Quarter.  Each one of these locations offers something different.  The Beaufort area is a fine spot for a family vacation and a great place to chase after fish as well.

As for duck hunting, what can I say, it is a serious sickness (my wife is convinced that duck hunters must be crazy). At Boykin Rod & Gun we hunt ducks where the ducks are, which means we move around a lot.  I have added a large, comfortable, Currituck Sound stake blind that gives us shots at most any species of water fowl that flies through North Carolina.  This blind is located near Corolla NC which is also a great place to surf fish for stripers during the winter months.  We also utilize aLake Erie style layout boat for some incredibly up close shooting on divers and sea ducks.

With all that said, please drop me a line or give me a call for more information.

Thanks and best Regards,
