At Boykin Rod & Gun we love to duck hunt. We offer some early season
goose hunts in September, later in the season we target divers and sea ducks. Each hunting trip is unique and tailored to meet
the needs of each group of clients. Our goose hunts are done on both water and in fields, often offering some exciting action. There are few things more exciting than watching a group of big resident geese lining up to hit the decoys that you are lying in. Close shots are the norm, but we still recommend a minimum shot size of #2 if you are using steel.
I also have a private blind on Currituck sound, within sight of the Currituck Lighthouse and the historic Whale Head Club. This
is a region rich in water fowling history. I highly recommend stopping at the museum adjacent to the light house. There
are some excellent decoy exhibits as well as some superb displays on the history of hunting in the area.
My personal favorite hunting technique would be layout hunting for divers and sea ducks. If you have never done this, let me
assure you that it is a great experience. We use a stable, one person,
